The Gombe State Government has launched a groundbreaking initiative, the three-arm zone, aimed at transforming the governance landscape and promoting sustainable development in the state. According to Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, the three-arm zone is a strategic move to bring governance closer to the people
“This initiative embodies our vision of creating a modern, efficient, and citizen-centric government that prioritizes transparency, accountability, and progress,” Yahaya said. The governor explained that the project is part of his administration’s efforts to address the challenges facing the state.
The three-arm zone is designed to house the Gombe State Secretariat, the Gombe State High Court, and the Gombe State House of Assembly, in state-of-the-art complexes. This initiative symbolizes unity and synergy between the Executive, Judiciary, and Legislature.
The project encompasses 1,478.17 hectares, incorporating about 12 designated layouts, including GDP 16, GDP 16A, GDP 16B, GDP 12, DP 65, BAP 4, and GDP/4 under the expansive Gombe Capital Special Development Zone.
According to Yahaya, the absence of robust planning and control mechanisms has hindered sustainable urban development in Gombe State. “The three-arm zone is our response to this challenge, and we are confident that it will make a significant impact,” he said.
The governor further explained that the project will enhance service delivery to citizens and promote effective democracy. “This initiative is part of our efforts to address the challenges facing our state and promote sustainable development,” he added.
The Director-General of Gombe Geographic Information Systems, Dr Kabiru Hassan, emphasized the project’s immense potential. “The three-arm zone will not only boost our Internally Generated Revenue but also redefine the urban landscape of Gombe State, positioning it as a model for sustainable governance and development in Nigeria,” Hassan said.
Hassan added that once completed, the three-arm zone will be a testament to the administration’s commitment to transformative leadership and a beacon of hope for the people of Gombe State. “It will also enhance collaboration among the various government ministries, departments, and agencies for improved public service delivery,” he said.
