Governor Peter Mbah has firmly stated that Enugu is the safest state in Nigeria despite recent Enugu herdsmen attack propaganda.
This declaration follows a brutal attack on the Agu-Amed Autonomous Community in Eha-Amufu by suspected herdsmen.
According to eyewitness reports, seven people were killed, with two others still missing from the Sunday evening assault.
Reacting to the tragic incident, Mbah maintained that Enugu is the safest state, backed by strong security investments.
He made the remark during a courtesy visit from AIG Abayomi Oladipo at the Lion Building on Wednesday.
Governor Mbah emphasized that his government deployed strategic resources from inception to ensure peace and secure lives.
He said that Enugu’s economic goals would remain impossible without establishing reliable and lasting security infrastructure first.
Mbah pointed out his government’s security measures including AI-enabled cameras and over 150 vehicles for rapid response.
He also revealed the establishment of a Distress Response Squad to provide quick intervention in emergency security situations.
The governor asserted that Enugu is the safest state, despite efforts by detractors spreading outdated or false content online about an Enugu herdsmen attack.
He accused critics of recycling old incidents and misrepresenting events from other states as Enugu-related happenings.
Peter Mbah assured residents that real-time surveillance and swift justice systems are already operational across the entire state.
Assistant Inspector General Abayomi Oladipo applauded the government’s efforts, stating the security framework was yielding significant results.
He commended the synergy between the police, other agencies, and the state government in maintaining peace and order.
The AIG emphasized his commitment to ensuring sustained collaboration in combating crime within Enugu and neighboring states.
Mbah concluded that the consistent pushback against insecurity demonstrates his administration’s unwavering resolve to protect all citizens.
