Governor Hyacinth Alia has officially appointed Barrister Deborah Aber Serumun as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), following the resignation of the previous SSG, Prof. Joseph Alakali. This change in leadership comes after Prof. Alakali submitted his resignation letter on Monday, stating that he needed time to address personal challenges.

In accepting Prof. Alakali’s resignation, Governor Alia expressed his gratitude for the former SSG’s dedicated service to the state. Prof. Alakali had served under Governor Alia’s administration for one year and three months. Governor Alia acknowledged the contributions made by Prof. Alakali during his tenure and wished him well in managing his personal issues. The governor also expressed hope that Prof. Alakali would find the strength and resolution needed to overcome his challenges.

On Tuesday, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, released a statement from Governor Alia. The statement reflected the governor’s appreciation for Prof. Alakali’s efforts and highlighted the positive impact of his service. The governor’s message conveyed his sincere wishes for Prof. Alakali’s success in dealing with his personal matters and expressed gratitude for his contributions to the administration.

Barrister Deborah Aber Serumun, the newly appointed SSG, brings a wealth of experience to the role. She is a seasoned solicitor and arbitrator known for her proactive approach and strong analytical abilities. Barrister Aber is recognized for her teamwork skills and dedication to excellence.

She has a solid background in legal and administrative matters, which Governor Alia believes will be highly beneficial for the state government.

Barrister Aber is a graduate of the University of Jos and Nasarawa State University. Her academic and professional background has equipped her with a deep understanding of legal and governance issues. Governor Alia is confident that her expertise and trustworthy record will significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of his administration.

In his directive to Barrister Aber, Governor Alia emphasized the importance of aligning her work with the administration’s vision as outlined in the official working document. He instructed her to prioritize the interests of the state in all her official functions and to remain focused on achieving the administration’s goals.

The appointment of Barrister Aber as the new SSG is effective immediately. This transition marks a new chapter in the state’s governance, with Governor Alia expressing confidence in Barrister Aber’s ability to contribute positively to the administration’s success and growth.
