Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has underscored the significance of ongoing road projects across the state, emphasizing that they reflect his administration’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure. These projects are designed to better connect towns and villages, enhancing overall accessibility and boosting economic activity.

During the recent flag-off ceremony, Governor Lawal officially launched the construction of 11.65 kilometers of new roads in the towns of Rawayya, Furfuri, and Kurya-Madaro. These towns are located in the Bungudu and Kaura-Namoda local government areas.

The governor highlighted that this project is not just about paving roads but is a critical component of his administration’s broader strategy to address infrastructure deficits and promote local development.

The ₦6.6 billion project has been awarded to Bauhaus Global Investment Nigeria Limited. It is set to create vital links between these towns and surrounding villages, facilitating easier movement of people and goods. This improved connectivity is expected to address significant gaps in infrastructure, which have previously hampered economic growth and development in the area.

At the flag-off event held in Rawayya, Engineer Ahmad Yandi, the Zamfara State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, provided insight into the impact of the state’s current infrastructure challenges. He explained that inadequate roads and transportation facilities have severely affected various sectors, including agriculture and local businesses. Poor infrastructure has limited farmers’ access to markets, delayed the delivery of goods, and hindered the growth of small businesses.

Governor Lawal emphasized that these road projects are part of a larger plan to enhance the state’s transportation network. He noted that improved roads would not only boost local economies but also contribute to better security by improving access to remote areas. The governor reassured residents that his administration is dedicated to ensuring sustainable development and fostering economic advancement in Zamfara State.

The governor also addressed concerns about the project’s duration and impact. He stated that the construction is expected to be completed within 12 months, which he believes will be a significant milestone for the state. The road network will facilitate smoother transportation, reduce travel times, and encourage investment in the region.

Governor Dauda Lawal’s initiative to expand and improve road infrastructure demonstrates a clear focus on addressing critical needs and fostering growth. By linking towns and villages, his administration aims to create a more connected and prosperous Zamfara State. The successful completion of this project is anticipated to have far-reaching benefits for local communities, enhancing their access to opportunities and improving their overall quality of life.
