Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed deep sorrow over the Okunchi accident, which tragically claimed the lives of seven victims and left several others injured in Adavi Local Government Area.

Governor Ododo, who was on an official assignment in China at the time of the incident, described the deaths as a devastating blow not only for the affected families but also for the entire community.

In a statement, he emphasized the deep impact of the loss on the local economy, noting that the victims were hardworking individuals who contributed significantly to the community’s welfare.

“This tragic loss is a heavy blow for all of us. These were people who worked tirelessly to support their families and contribute to the growth of their community,” said Governor Ododo.

“It’s particularly painful when such hardworking lives are lost due to the recklessness of others on the road. We must all take responsibility and ensure that such tragedies do not happen again.”

The Governor also commended Honourable Bashiru Okatengwu, Chairman of Adavi Local Government Area, for his quick action in coordinating first responders and ensuring that the victims received immediate assistance.

He further extended his condolences to the families of the victims and to the people of Adavi, offering support in their grief.

“The unity and support shown by the people of Adavi is a testament to the solidarity and strength of our community. In these times of sorrow, their compassion has been evident,” Governor Ododo added.

In addition to his condolences, the Governor called for an urgent review of the local emergency healthcare facilities.

He stressed the importance of enhancing the state’s emergency response infrastructure to ensure more efficient management of similar situations in the future.
