Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has vowed to bring the perpetrators of Friday’s attack on two farmers in Odo-Ape, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, to justice. The governor issued the directive for an immediate crackdown in a statement by Kingsley Fanwo, Commissioner for Information and Communications, on Saturday.
Governor Ododo tasked the State Security Adviser, Jerry Omodara, to work with security agencies and local vigilante groups to ensure the arrest of the assailants. “The government is putting all hands on deck to ensure the attackers do not escape justice,” the statement read.
The attack, which occurred in the Kogi West Senatorial District, has heightened tensions in the community. Ododo called for calm, urging residents to avoid reprisals that could escalate the violence. He assured families of the deceased that their loss would not be in vain, pledging his administration’s unwavering commitment to the safety of all citizens.
Security operatives have already been deployed to Odo-Ape and other identified flashpoints to restore peace and protect lives and property. The governor emphasized the importance of cooperation from residents and urged the public to provide credible information that could aid in apprehending the culprits.
“We sympathize with the communities affected by this unfortunate incident. Be assured that this administration will stop at nothing to guarantee your security,” Ododo said.
