Through a number of collaborations with cyber behemoths like Google.org and Data Science Nigeria, Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani has launched an ambitious plan to establish the state as a powerhouse for the digital economy.
Sani, through the Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology, Mrs. Patience Fakai, spoke at a stakeholders’ engagement on the draft National Digital Economy and e-Governance Bill in Kaduna on Thursday. She said the program, called “Arewa Ladies4Tech,” will provide information and communication technology training to more than 5,000 women in the state’s 23 local government areas.
“Under the Arewa Ladies4Tech initiative, our government has partnered with Google.org and Data Science Nigeria to equip more than 5,000 women with ICT skills. This program has already produced amazing results, with participants finding remote work jobs both locally and internationally,” Sani said.
The governor also emphasized the AI4All program, another innovative endeavour aimed at educating Hausa speakers in Nigeria and abroad about artificial intelligence.
“AI4All offers brief, easily understandable AI lessons in Hausa that may be shared over the phone or downloaded from the NITDA website. “This is Africa’s first initiative of its kind,” he continued.
Young innovators are invited to create innovative products specifically for the agricultural industry through the AgricTech Hackathon, which the state has organised in collaboration with Greysoft Technologies.
