Former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s government as an evil that will destroy Nigeria. He admitted to have contributed in bringing this “tragedy” upon the Nigeria. He had vowed to join the coalition to remove Mr Tinubu from office in 2027.
During an interview with Arise TV, on Monday, Mr El-Rufai said, “I just feel that having contributed to bringing this tragedy upon Nigeria by contributing to the emergence of Bola Tinubu as president of Nigeria, I should contribute in my last lap, let me contribute toward removing this evil I believe will destroy Nigeria if left unchecked.”
El-Rufai on Tinubu’s government is coming after Mr Tinubu had hailed Uba Sani–Mr El-Rufai’s successor–just last week, saying he has transformed Kaduna into a better place from the toxic state it was under Mr El-Rufai’s watch.
Recall, Mr El-Rufai left the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP) few months ago, after his ministerial appointment nomination was blocked by the Senate. Mr El-Rufai strongly believes Mr Tinubu was behind the blocking of his appointment.
A little background. Earlier, Mr El Rufai expressed disappointment with Mr Tinubu for sidelining him by blocking his appointment. The presidency, via one of its spokesperson, Daniel Bwala later criticised him. Bwala called him bitter for not getting political appointment, referring to the Senate blocking of Mr El Rufai’s appointment earlier.
Prior to this recent interview, Mr El-Rufai had called out Mr Tinubu as a failure and admitted he supported him to be president despite knowing his Chicago drug-related and certificate forgery scandals.
