Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has dismissed speculation about his alleged defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), maintaining that he remains a member of the party.
Gov Mohammed had been rumoured to be considering a move from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor was said to be weighing the possibility of leaving the PDP, with reports suggesting the move could occur this week.
Reacting to the development shortly after the swearing-in of 17 newly appointed permanent secretaries at the Government House on Wednesday, the governor, when approached by journalists for comment on the rumoured defection, declined to grant an immediate interview but said he would address the matter later.
“Pressmen, no interview for now. I will speak with Channels at 7pm,” he said.
He, however, briefly addressed the reports, stating: “I have not moved; they said that I have defected.”
Mohammed also described himself as an “international figure in politics,” adding that he would provide further clarification on the matter later in the day before proceeding to his office.
