The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has taken decisive action by ordering the immediate deployment of the Intelligence Response Team to rescue Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere Youth Leader, who was abducted on February 17, 2025, while en route to Abuja.
At the operational headquarters in Ibadan, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that all necessary resources and specialized expertise are being mobilized to ensure Ojajuni’s safe recovery. The IG’s directive prioritizes his rescue above all other operations, reflecting a zero-tolerance approach toward abductions.
The visit by a delegation from the Nigeria Customs Liaison Office from Cotonou was noted earlier this week, but today’s focus remains solely on the rescue operation. Adejobi stressed that this targeted intervention is part of a broader effort to dismantle criminal networks that exploit border vulnerabilities and threaten national security.
In a bid to prevent any interference with the operation, police officials have urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified information on social media. They warned that such speculation could jeopardize the safety of the victim and the success of the rescue mission.
The operation comes on the heels of successful actions in other states, where tactical teams have recently rescued kidnapped victims and disrupted criminal activities. Notably, coordinated raids in Taraba led to multiple arrests and the seizure of arms, while swift action in Oyo State resulted in the recovery of kidnapped individuals from a palace setting.
