Governor Seyi Makinde has reaffirmed his unshakable commitment to the PDP, rejecting coalition talks ahead of 2027 elections.
He made this clear during the Southwest PDP caucus meeting at the party’s zonal secretariat in Ibadan on Friday.
Makinde stated that the PDP in the Southwest remains united and committed to fixing internal challenges rather than abandoning ship.
“Makinde PDP loyalty” stood firm as he challenged the character and consistency of those driving the new opposition coalition.
He said, “Those forming the coalition were once part of PDP or APC—what new ideas do they really offer?”
Makinde likened the PDP to a house with a leaking roof that responsible leaders must fix rather than flee.
He stressed that withheld Osun State local government allocations by the Federal Government violate constitutional and economic rights.
The communique read, “Federal withholding of Osun LG funds is unconstitutional and harmful to the people’s collective welfare.”
Governor Ademola Adeleke, represented by his deputy Kola Adewusi, also dismissed his involvement in any opposition coalition.
Adewusi emphasized Adeleke’s unflinching PDP loyalty and assured members that the governor remained committed to the party’s future.
The PDP caucus urged Tinubu’s administration to release Osun LG funds and cease politically motivated financial suppression tactics.
They expressed full support for Makinde PDP loyalty and praised Adeleke’s leadership in maintaining party stability across the zone.
Chief Sanya Atofarati read the communique, which applauded both governors for their dedication to Southwest PDP growth and cohesion.
Makinde concluded that PDP will not scatter under pressure, but rebuild stronger to reclaim political ground in 2027.
