Consultant of the Kukah Centre (Technical Adviser on Law, Security & Governance), Saka Azimazi, has said there is no excuse to deny Nigerians the goodness of real-time transmission of election results.
Azimazi made this remark on Monday when he appeared as a guest in an interview on Arise Television.
He said that if Moniepoint and Opay have networks to transact business across Nigeria, nothing stops the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), from borrowing their technology.
His statement comes amid the national debate on the real-time electronic transmission of election results.
Since the amendment, Nigerian youths, opposition politicians and Civil Society Organizations, CSOs, have been protesting at the gate of the National Assembly demanding the mandatory e-transmission.
Reacting, Azimazi said, “The process of amending the law is still ongoing. It’s inconclusive. The logical thing is for the legislature to have a committee to reconcile differences.
“There is no excuse for us to deny ourselves the goodness of real-time election transmission of results.
“If Moniepoint and Opay have networks to transact business across Nigeria, nothing stops INEC from borrowing their technology.”
