Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has unveiled plans to introduce personalized Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards for candidates during the 2025 UTME registration process. This endeavor is aimed at addressing persistent issues such as SIM card theft or loss.
In its Weekly Bulletin, JAMB declared that the personalized SIM cards will be launched next year in partnership with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
These SIM cards, tailored specifically for UTME registration, will incorporate advanced security features and will be restricted to parental access only. They will have a validity period of five years.
Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, disclosed these advancements during a meeting with a delegation from the West Africa Civil Societies Forum (WACSOF).
He expressed his confidence that the introduction of personalized SIM cards will effectively tackle the various obstacles encountered during candidates’ registration processes.

During the 2024 UTME, numerous candidates faced challenges with registration due to SIM card alterations, while others encountered difficulties accessing their results after misplacing their registered SIM cards.
