A daring joint security operation involving the police and military has successfully rescued a kidnapped naval officer, Lt. Cynthia Akor, and two civilians in Abuja. The victims were abducted by armed men on March 21, 2025, in Mpape, Abuja.
The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of ₦500 million for the naval officer and ₦200 million each for the civilians. However, the police and military were hot on their heels, tracking them down to a Fulani resettlement in Anguwan Mu’azu and Yelwa Hills.
The rescue operation, which took place between 2 am and 5:30 am on March 23, resulted in the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of ₦3.2 million, suspected to be ransom money from previous kidnapping operations.
The police and military worked tirelessly to track down the kidnappers, using credible intelligence to locate their hideout. The successful rescue operation is a testament to the effectiveness of the joint security efforts.
