Reports suggest that Jose Mourinho has been offered a surprising job opportunity from a Saudi Arabian club in a capacity he has not previously worked in. The former manager of Manchester United and Chelsea has been without a job since January when Roma dismissed him following a disappointing period.
Mourinho has been connected with various prominent positions in recent months, including a likely return to United in case Erik ten Hag is let go this summer. He was rumored to be in the running for a role at Liverpool after being seen at one of their recent games against Fulham, but it seems he won’t be joining the team as Arne Slot is reportedly set to replace Jurgen Klopp.
His future remains uncertain as he is believed to have received an atypical offer to work as the new technical director for Al-Qadisiyah, a second-tier club in Saudi Arabia. This role would present a new challenge for the 61-year-old manager.
It remains to be seen whether Mourinho will accept the offer and join other high-profile individuals in relocating to the Gulf state. Last year, Mourinho expressed his interest in working in Saudi Arabia, inspired by his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo. Besiktas vice-president Huseyin Yucel disclosed that Mourinho had discussed the possibility of managing the team, potentially reuniting with Ricardo Quaresma, whom he had conflicts with during their time together at Inter Milan.
