The 32-year old Ghanaian Midfielder is set to leave Arsenal football club as a free agent after his contract expired. Arsenal were in talks with Partey over a contract renewal since May 2025.
Arsenal’s coach Mikel Arteta confirmed the contract renewal talk on May. He said, “Yes, I’d like Thomas Partey to stay and sign new deal
“Consistency-wise, it’s been his best season. I think the way he’s played, performed, his availability has been exceptional & he’s a really important player for us.”
However, no agreement was reached between Partey and Arsenal, despite Arteta showing interest in keeping the talent.
Just when Partey is set to leave Arsenal as a free agent, he has been officially charged with rape by the Metropolitan Police Service in the United Kingdom (UK).
On Friday, renown sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano reported, “The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police Service to charge a man after a file of evidence was submitted by detectives.
“The Met has issued a charge and requisition to Thomas Partey, 32 (13/06/1992), of Hertfordshire, in connection with the following offences: Five counts of rape, One count of sexual assault.”
The offences alleged to have taken place between 2021 and 2022.
