Kaduna Deputy Governor, Monarch Emphasize Leadership Skills, Patriotism

The Kaduna State Post Graduate Students from the University of Abuja recently organized a Youth Leadership Clinic aimed at empowering young people with leadership skills, instilling patriotism, and knowledge necessary to guide Nigeria towards a brighter future. The program was held at the Kaduna State University, where dignitaries, including traditional rulers, emphasized the importance of leadership skills, patriotism, and other qualities in raising future leaders.

According to the Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, “Leadership is not just about holding positions, but about responsibility, problem-solving, and inspiring others.” She noted that the state government is prioritizing initiatives that promote youth empowerment by strengthening the education system, which includes providing skills and vocational training for young people.

The Deputy Governor, who was represented by her Special Adviser, Mallam Rilwan Hassan, also highlighted the need for patriotism, encouraging young people to be good ambassadors of Nigeria. “Our young people are always bad ambassadors of Nigeria by pushing the wrong agenda about the country. We have to be patriotic,” she added.
In his remarks, the Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, emphasized the importance of honesty, integrity, fairness, and courage in leadership. “The most important ingredients of leadership are honesty, integrity, fairness, and courage. You can never be a good leader if you choose to stay by the edge,” he said.

Bamalli also stressed the importance of patriotism, asserting that it earns respect and fosters assertive decision-making. “We have to be patriotic if we want to stand tall in any part of the world. That is what will earn you respect,” he maintained
The Director, Abuja Leadership Centre, University of Abuja, Prof. Philip Afaha, represented by Prof. Joseph Golwa, explained that the program was one of the interventions of TETfund aimed at addressing the problem of leadership deficits in the society.

According to Prof. Golwa, “The issue of leadership deficit is a problem all over the world. Identifying this and having institutions meant to focus on building leadership people. What our postgraduate students are doing today is to train the young ones on leadership skills.”
The Youth Leadership Clinic was attended by dignitaries, including traditional rulers, who emphasized the importance of leadership skills, patriotism, and other qualities in raising future leaders.

The program was part of the group’s study program and was aimed at creating a unique opportunity to empower young people with leadership skills to enable them contribute to a brighter future Nigeria.
