The Kano Police Commissioner, Salman Garba, has called on 181 newly promoted officers to significantly boost their efforts in combating crime across the state. This appeal was made during a formal event where the officers, recently advanced in their ranks, were honored for their new positions.

In a detailed statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, it was reported that these officers were elevated from the rank of Inspectors to Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP II). This promotion was part of a broader update announced by the Police Service Commission on July 29, 2024. The event marked a significant moment for these officers, recognizing their hard work and dedication to their roles within the police force.

The promotion ceremony took place on August 13, 2024. During this ceremony, the Commissioner of Police for Kano State, CP Salman Garba, personally decorated the 181 officers with their new ranks. In his address, CP Garba congratulated the officers and their families, underlining that their promotions were a result of their commitment, professionalism, and impeccable service records. He emphasized that maintaining high standards of integrity and dedication is essential in their new roles.

CP Garba also extended his gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Police Service Commission, and the entire Force management team. His thanks were directed at the support and guidance provided by these key figures, who have been instrumental in the promotion process and overall advancement of the police force.

Addressing the officers, CP Garba highlighted the ongoing security challenges faced by the state. He acknowledged the significant efforts made by the officers to tackle these challenges but stressed the need for an increased commitment to ensure the safety and security of Kano’s residents. He urged them to redouble their efforts in their fight against crime and to remain vigilant in their duties.

ASP Jacob Yadume, speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, reassured the Commissioner and the public of their dedication to upholding the law and performing their duties with utmost professionalism. Yadume’s statement reflected a strong commitment to the values and responsibilities associated with their new ranks.

CP Garba also took the opportunity to address Supervising Police Officers during a lecture session. He commended their ongoing efforts in managing the state’s security despite the recent challenges. His remarks were intended to motivate and encourage them to continue working diligently and to enhance their focus on safeguarding lives and properties.
