The Police Command in Kano State has officially dismissed reports circulating on social media about a fatal attack on an 18-seater bus carrying passengers in the state.
According to the police, the information is completely false and misleading. The claim, which has been widely shared
across social media platforms, suggested that the bus was attacked, resulting in several casualties.
However, the police have clarified that no such incident occurred, calling the reports an unfortunate spread of
misinformation.
In a statement issued on Saturday, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the spokesperson for the Kano Police Command,
emphasized that the circulating report was baseless. He urged the public to disregard the fabricated claims, stressing
that spreading unverified news could cause unnecessary panic and social unrest.
Kiyawa reassured the citizens that the police were actively investigating the origin of the false information to ensure
that those responsible would face the appropriate legal consequences.
The police also reaffirmed their commitment to upholding law and order in the state. They assured residents that
measures were in place to ensure their safety and security, as well as promote peaceful coexistence among the
diverse communities in Kano.
The Command made it clear that it would not tolerate actions that could disrupt public peace and cause unnecessary fear.

SP Kiyawa’s statement also reminded the public of the critical role that responsible sharing of information plays in
maintaining social harmony.
He called on citizens to verify news through reliable sources before spreading it further, highlighting the damaging

Further, the police stressed that their focus remains on protecting the well-being of residents and ensuring the
security of all individuals in Kano. They assured the public that no such attack had occurred and that law enforcement
agencies were working tirelessly to address any potential threats or incidents in the state.
As part of the ongoing efforts to maintain order, the police have launched an investigation to identify and hold
accountable those responsible for spreading the false report.
They stated that individuals caught disseminating unverified or harmful information would be prosecuted under the law, which will serve as a deterrent to future instances of fake news.
