The Kano State Police Command confirmed a violent Kano police station attack on Garko Division, leaving officers injured and vehicles destroyed.
According to police officials, the crisis began after officers transferred three homicide suspects to the division for interrogation purposes.
Angry residents armed with sticks and stones stormed the Garko Police Division, protesting the homicide case and demanding mob justice.
During the violent demonstration, attackers burned the divisional patrol van, destroyed Hisbah vehicles, and damaged property belonging to Garko Council.
Three police officers sustained serious injuries during the attack and were immediately taken to Wudil Hospital for treatment.
SP Abdullahi Haruna revealed that one protester died after a burning tyre burst, striking him with fatal force.
He explained that three other protesters sustained injuries, while police successfully arrested nine suspects connected directly to the violent incident.
Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori deployed immediate containment operations, personally engaging community stakeholders to restore calm and maintain order.
The Police Command warned residents against mob actions, stressing such violence undermines justice, threatens peace, and destabilises Kano communities significantly.
