The Kogi State Government is embarking on a transformative journey towards self-reliance and progress as it unveils plans to generate electricity locally and delve into mineral exploration initiatives. This groundbreaking announcement was made by the State’s Commissioner for Information, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, following a State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Usman Ododo.

With a firm commitment to catapult the state into new heights of development, the Kogi State Government is primed to harness its abundant resources and potential for the benefit of its people and the advancement of its infrastructure.

Emphasizing the significance of these decisions, Mr Fanwo stated, “Kogi has all it takes to generate and distribute power for the wellbeing of our people and developmental purpose.

“The executive council has approved the state’s participation in mineral exploration, aligning with federal government policies on solid minerals mining and processing.”

The approval of modalities for local electricity generation signifies a bold step towards ensuring sustainable power supply within the state, promising to fuel economic growth and improve the quality of life for residents.

The State Executive Council has also greenlit plans for enhanced minerals exploration in compliance with the Federal Government’s guidelines on Solid Minerals mining and processing. This strategic move aims to leverage Kogi’s rich mineral deposits, including Lithium, Gold, and other valuable resources, unlocking potential economic opportunities for the state.

In alignment with its vision for progress, the council has also taken decisive measures to streamline governance and reduce operational costs, directing resources towards vital infrastructure projects that will drive Kogi State towards prosperity.
