Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Napoli’s Georgian forward, has officially requested a move away from the Serie A club during the January transfer window. Premier League giants Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United are reportedly interested in the 23-year-old, while Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has emerged as the leading contender to secure his signature.
Napoli manager Antonio Conte confirmed the player’s desire to leave, describing the news as a “bolt from the blue.” Speaking about the situation, Conte admitted that despite his efforts to keep Kvaratskhelia last summer, the player remains unconvinced about the club’s project. “I worked hard to convince him, but evidently, I failed,” Conte lamented.
PSG is reportedly close to finalizing a deal, with verbal agreements expected next week, according to journalist Santi Aouna. This potential move would mark the end of Kvaratskhelia’s tenure at Napoli, where he played a pivotal role in their Scudetto-winning campaign and contributed 59 goal involvements across 107 matches since joining from Dinamo Batumi in 2022.
Although his contract runs until 2027, Napoli has struggled to secure an extension for the winger, who has become unsettled amid growing interest from top European clubs. His departure would be a significant loss for Napoli, especially given his impact during his debut season, which helped the club reclaim the Serie A title after more than three decades.
Conte expressed his disappointment at potentially losing such a vital player but remained pragmatic about the situation. “I don’t want him to feel chained here. If he stays, it must be because he believes in what we’re building,” the manager said.
