Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, marked the Armed Forces Remembrance Day by laying a wreath at the cenotaph of the unknown soldier in Ilorin. During the ceremony, the governor called on citizens to continue praying for peace, unity, and security across the nation. The event, a key part of the nationwide commemoration, honours the sacrifices of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
In his address, Governor AbdulRazaq emphasised the importance of remembering the men and women who have served in the military, noting their immeasurable contributions to the nation’s stability and security. He urged Nigerians to not only remember those who have served but also their families, who continue to bear the emotional toll of their sacrifices.
As part of the ceremony, the governor released white pigeons, symbolising the country’s commitment to peace and harmony. This act was a poignant reminder of the nation’s resilience and its desire to maintain harmony following the civil war that claimed the lives of many soldiers and civilians.
