Manchester City captain Kyle Walker has completed a loan move to Italian giants AC Milan, marking a significant new chapter in his career. The England international finalised the deal after a medical on Thursday, with the agreement including an option for Milan to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
Walker, who has been a pivotal part of Manchester City’s dominance under Pep Guardiola, expressed pride and excitement about joining the seven-time European champions. In a heartfelt social media post, the 34-year-old said, “I’m delighted and proud to sign for AC Milan! A club with such rich history, one I’ve followed since I was a kid. It’s an honour to join, and I can’t wait to pull on the Rossoneri shirt and get started.”
The right-back, a six-time Premier League winner, joins fellow English players Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Tammy Abraham at the San Siro. He will wear the number 32 shirt and could debut on Sunday when AC Milan hosts Parma in Serie A.
Walker joined Manchester City from Tottenham in 2017 for £50 million, making 319 appearances and playing a key role in the club’s treble-winning 2022-23 season. After his last appearance for City on January 4 against West Ham, Walker informed Guardiola of his decision to move to Milan in search of new challenges.
In a statement, Manchester City extended their best wishes to Walker, saying, “Everyone at Manchester City wishes Kyle the very best of luck for the rest of the season.” Meanwhile, AC Milan fans eagerly anticipate the arrival of the seasoned defender, who is expected to bring leadership and experience to the team.
