The Lagos State Government has firmly denied involvement in the Peter Obi demolition claims making rounds on social media.
In a press statement, Commissioner for Information Gbenga Omotoso described the claim as both misleading and factually unverified.
Omotoso stated that neither LASBCA nor any Lagos government agency carried out the alleged property demolition in question.
According to him, Special Adviser Dr. Olajide Babatunde, who oversees LASBCA, confirmed zero agency involvement in the incident.
He expressed concern that Mr. Obi chose to circulate such claims without fact-checking or reaching out for clarification.
“The Peter Obi demolition claims appears timed to cause unnecessary political tension ahead of the local government elections,” he said.
Omotoso emphasized that the Lagos State Government operates under law and will never condone acts of unlawful demolition.
He assured the public that any individual or group behind such illegal actions would be prosecuted to the fullest extent
To that end, the government has ordered a full investigation through LASBCA, under Arc. Gbolahun Oki’s supervision.
The probe will determine who exactly authorized the demolition and whether due process was followed or ignored entirely.
Omotoso reaffirmed that Lagos remains committed to justice, fairness, and accountability in all matters involving public or private property.
He warned against the politicization of development matters, especially ones involving sensitive property and legal issues.
The Peter Obi demolition claim has sparked public discourse and confusion, which officials now aim to clear with verified facts.
Lagos State also reiterated its responsibility to protect residents’ property rights, regardless of status or political affiliation.
As the investigation begins, the Peter Obi demolition claim continues to draw attention across political and legal spheres nationwide.
