Leaked Documents reveals DHQ Ignored DSS warning on Benue Massacre.

A leaked intelligence document has exposed a DSS warning on Benue attacks issued weeks before a deadly mass killing.
The classified memo, dated May 13, was reportedly addressed to Moses Gara, commander of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS).
According to the DSS warning on Benue attacks, Fulani militias were plotting coordinated assaults across Benue and Nasarawa states.
The DSS intelligence revealed the attacks were retaliation for the state government’s alleged seizure of Fulani-owned cattle herds.

Dozens of towns, including Yelewata, Chiata, Vandikya, and Daudu, were marked as high-risk targets for imminent militia invasions.
On June 13, gunmen raided Yelewata and Daudu in Benue’s Guma LGA, killing over 200 civilians, including displaced persons.
The DSS warned that armed groups were assembling in forests between Nasarawa and Benue for strategic coordinated attacks.
The leaked memo indicated that militias were planning offensives from locations including Ikom Forest and Amako Forest in Doma.
Despite the DSS warning on Benue attacks, security response proved inadequate, allowing widespread devastation across local communities.
Further reports showed that Moses Gara met with leaders of Miyetti Allah in Makurdi to address persistent security concerns.

Army spokesperson Lawal Osabo confirmed the high-level engagement included discussions on herder-farmer conflicts and repeated violent retaliatory attacks.
He said the issues discussed were forwarded to the state government and national security agencies for urgent intervention.
Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, later disclosed that troops were in Yelewata but misled by false intelligence.
Musa said soldiers were diverted to another location, enabling armed men to overrun Yelewata shortly after they left.
The public now demands answers as evidence grows that early DSS warnings were ignored or insufficiently acted upon.
