Ademola Lookman has recently achieved a milestone in his career by winning a prestigious award in Italy, just ahead of Nigeria’s forthcoming qualifying match for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations against Libya’s Mediterranean Knights.

This accolade comes at a pivotal time for Lookman and his international teammates, who departed for Benghazi on Sunday, two days prior to their crucial matchday four fixture.

The announcement of Lookman’s award was made by Atalanta, the club he represents, via their official website. They revealed that Lookman has been honored as the club’s Player of the Month for September 2024, a recognition that highlights his exceptional performance during the month.

In addition to his club achievements, Lookman has made a significant impact on the international stage. On September 7, he showcased his scoring prowess by netting a brace in a commanding 3-0 victory over Gernot Rohr’s Benin national team, contributing to the Super Eagles’ impressive performance.

Atalanta’s fans have expressed their admiration for Lookman, ultimately crowning him as the club’s most outstanding player for September through votes on the official Atalanta App. This reflects not only his individual talent but also his popularity among supporters.

During his debut this season, Lookman made a remarkable impression by providing an assist and scoring the decisive goal in a thrilling match against Fiorentina, leading Atalanta to a comeback victory with a scoreline of 3-2. His outstanding performance in that match earned him the coveted Man of the Match award, a testament to his critical role in the team’s success.

In the subsequent game, Lookman continued to demonstrate his skills by getting on the scoresheet again, although this effort was ultimately in vain as Atalanta lost 3-2 to Como, a team managed by the renowned Cesc Fàbregas. Despite the loss, Lookman’s consistent performance has kept him in the spotlight.

With a total of three goal involvements throughout September, Lookman was selected as the Player of the Month, claiming the award ahead of other contenders, including Lazar Samardžić and Retegui. This achievement underscores his influence and importance within the team.

The 26-year-old forward has undergone a remarkable transformation since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2022. His resurgence in form has revitalized his career and led to him being named the club’s Player of the Year in consecutive seasons.

Lookman’s journey reflects his dedication and skill, positioning him as a key player for both his club and his country as they prepare for the challenges ahead.
