Manchester United has reportedly agreed to send Brazilian midfielder Casemiro on loan to Flamengo in a deal described as “very risky business.” The 32-year-old joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2022 from Real Madrid for £60m plus £10m in add-ons, but his form has significantly dipped over the past year.
Casemiro, once a key figure in United’s midfield, has seen his playing time diminish under new head coach Ruben Amorim, with the Brazilian failing to feature in several of United’s recent Premier League matches. Despite his struggles, he remains one of the club’s highest earners, and United is keen to offload him in order to ease their financial burden.
Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola claims that Casemiro’s potential loan move to Flamengo has been discussed, with Manchester United willing to cover part of his substantial salary to facilitate the transfer. However, Flamengo views the deal as a risky venture, as the cost remains high despite United’s willingness to contribute.
Flamengo manager Filipe Luis is reportedly eager to bring Casemiro to the Brazilian club, but the financial and performance risks of the deal are causing some hesitation.
Amorim, who recently spoke about taking risks in his transfer strategy, has been making significant changes at Old Trafford. His admission that the current situation is “dangerous” for United’s future suggests that the club is trying to rebuild its squad with new profiles while balancing the financial realities of high-profile departures.
