Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has officially taken office as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). His swearing-in ceremony took place at the union’s national secretariat in Abuja, following his selection through a consensus during the Quadrennial Delegate Conference held at the Zonal Secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State.
The election, which was zoned to the Southwest by the NURTW national body, saw participation from four states: Ogun, Lagos, Ekiti, and Ondo. Akinsanya’s emergence as the national leader was met with widespread enthusiasm.
Supporters filled the union’s secretariat, chanting songs and celebrating his new position. His arrival at the national headquarters was a festive affair, reflecting the strong backing he has within the union.
Upon his arrival, MC Oluomo was formally introduced to key members of the union’s leadership, including the National Administrative Council (NAC) and the Central Working Committee (CWC). The swearing-in ceremony was promptly conducted, led by the union’s Legal Officer, Mercy Ibeh. During the event, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede was also sworn in as the Vice President for the Southwest region, and Akeem Adeosun was appointed as a Trustee.
In his acceptance speech, Akinsanya expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the union members and his numerous supporters. He thanked everyone who played a role in facilitating his election and official induction into office. Emphasizing his commitment to the NURTW’s guiding principles, Akinsanya vowed to adhere to the union’s constitution and lead with integrity.
“I am deeply honored to serve as the National President of the NURTW. With the help of Almighty Allah, I promise to take the union to greater heights,” Akinsanya stated. He underscored the importance of unity and called for cooperation among all members, highlighting that his primary focus would be on enhancing the welfare of union members across the country.
