MultiChoice Rebrands SuperSport Channels, New Sports Lineup for DStv and GOtv Viewers

Pay-TV giant, MultiChoice Group, has officially rebranded its SuperSport variety channels on both the DStv and GOtv platforms.

This move signals a major overhaul in its sports content delivery, as the company aims to enhance the viewing experience for subscribers and offer a broader range of sports programming across Africa.
In an official statement released on Thursday, Tope Oshunkeye, the Executive Head of Marketing at MultiChoice West Africa, announced that the changes were rolled out starting Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

This rebranding effort brings about a transformation in the names, programming, and overall structure of several SuperSport channels, making way for new and exciting options for sports fans.
Changes Across DStv and GOtv Platforms;

As part of the rebranding initiative, the existing SuperSport Select Channel has been renamed SuperSport Africa.

This channel will serve as the flagship for a wide array of sports content, particularly focusing on sports relevant to the African audience.

In addition, MultiChoice has introduced an entirely new channel called SuperSport Action, which will showcase an expanded variety of sports content, including popular international events like UFC matches and additional UEFA Champions League games.

This new channel is poised to cater to sports enthusiasts who crave a diverse range of high-octane action.
For GOtv subscribers, the changes have been specifically tailored to various subscription packages.
On the GOtv Jinja and GOtv Jolli packages, SuperSport Africa will now take over from Select 2 (previously Channel 64).

Meanwhile, on the GOtv Max package, both SuperSport Africa and SuperSport Africa 2 will replace the previous Select 1 and Select 2 channels (Channels 63 and 64, respectively).
Furthermore, on the premium GOtv Supa and SupaPlus bouquets, SuperSport Action will replace Select 3 (Channel 69).

These updates are aimed at refining the sports content offering for each package, ensuring that subscribers receive tailored and comprehensive sports coverage at every level.

Enhancing the Sports Viewing Experience
Explaining the rationale behind this rebranding effort, Oshunkeye stated, “The channel revamp is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our sports offering and provide customers with more unbeatable sports content that resonates with them.”

His statement underscores MultiChoice’s commitment to delivering a world-class sports viewing experience, with the new channels designed to showcase top-tier sporting action from around the globe.
Oshunkeye further elaborated that these changes would offer an enriched selection of sports, ranging from international events to locally curated content.

“The new channels will deliver top sports action from around the world, including local boxing, UFC events, comprehensive analysis, and other engaging content curated for the African audience,” he added.

This rebranding, therefore, not only enhances international sports coverage but also focuses on promoting local sports, giving African viewers access to a wider spectrum of sports entertainment.
MultiChoice’s Commitment to Excellence;

This move aligns with MultiChoice’s longstanding dedication to providing premium services and delivering unmatched value to its subscribers.

Oshunkeye reinforced this sentiment by saying, “We remain dedicated to delivering the best sporting action to our customers and continuously exploring ways to delight them with more choices, exciting live content, and great value.”

The company’s focus on customer satisfaction is evident in its commitment to diversifying content, improving channel offerings, and ensuring that viewers receive access to the most sought-after sports coverage, both live and on-demand.
To further engage subscribers and make the transition as seamless as possible, MultiChoice is encouraging customers to explore their upgraded package options.

Viewers are urged to subscribe, reconnect, or upgrade their packages through the MyGOtv App or by dialing *288#. Additionally, they can watch their favorite sports on the go via the GOtv Stream app, ensuring that they never miss out on the live action, regardless of their location.
MultiChoice’s decision to rebrand and expand its SuperSport channels signals a bold step toward enhancing the sports viewing experience for DStv and GOtv subscribers across Africa.

By introducing new channels and providing a more diverse range of sports content, the company is positioning itself to remain a leading provider of sports entertainment on the continent.

This revamp not only reflects MultiChoice’s commitment to innovation but also highlights its dedication to satisfying the ever-evolving preferences of its subscribers.
