Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has nominated 16 individuals for commissioner positions, marking a new phase in his administration. The nominees, who will undergo screening by the state House of Assembly, include experienced professionals and former lawmakers.
This reshuffle comes after the governor’s decision to dissolve his cabinet earlier in January in a bid to bring in new blood and technocrats who can contribute to the state’s development. The announcement was made by the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, during a session in Lafia, the state capital.
He revealed that the nominees are expected to submit their Curriculum Vitae (CV) to the House by Thursday this week, ahead of the screening process scheduled for the following Monday. This step is seen as part of the governor’s strategy to ensure that only the most qualified candidates are selected for his cabinet.
Among the 16 nominees, there is notable gender representation, with three women included in the list. The selection reflects a commitment to inclusive governance and the diversification of leadership in the state’s executive branch. This also aligns with the governor’s broader agenda of fostering a dynamic and responsive administration that is able to meet the evolving needs of the people.
The list includes individuals from various local government areas (LGAs), such as Yakubu Kwanta from Akwanga, Hon. Tanko Tunga from Awe, and Princess Margret Itaki Elayo from Keana. There are also prominent names like former members of the state’s House of Assembly, such as Umar Tunga and Mohammed Muluku, who have been nominated for positions in the executive council. These nominations are expected to inject fresh ideas and energy into the governance of Nasarawa State.
