Reports indicate that Nigerian international midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has declined an offer from Sevilla, expressing his preference to continue playing in the Premier League. According to sources, Ndidi is nearing a new contract agreement with Leicester City, where he has previously showcased his talents.
Ndidi’s contract with Leicester expired at the end of last season, leading to heightened interest from several top clubs, including Barcelona, Juventus, and Everton. His impressive performance in the previous campaign, which included four goals, five assists, and an 82% pass accuracy rate in 32 league appearances, has solidified his reputation as a sought-after player in European football.

Despite rumored interest from French clubs like Marseille, Lyon, and AS Monaco, Ndidi seems inclined to remain in England. Footmercato’s latest update suggests that negotiations with these clubs did not progress, paving the way for Ndidi’s potential return to Leicester City.

The reported agreement between Ndidi and Leicester City for a contract extension underscores the midfielder’s importance to the Foxes. Having been part of the club for over seven years, Ndidi’s continuity would provide stability in Leicester’s midfield, following in the footsteps of former stars like Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kanté.

While neither Leicester City nor Ndidi’s camp has officially confirmed the extension, the situation continues to attract attention, particularly from Everton. The Toffees are reportedly eyeing Ndidi as a replacement for Amadou Onana, amid speculation surrounding Onana’s future at Goodison Park.
As negotiations progress and details unfold, Ndidi’s decision to potentially extend his stay at Leicester City marks a significant development in the Premier League’s summer transfer window. It highlights the player’s commitment to English football and his desire to continue making an impact at one of the league’s competitive clubs.
