The National Examination Council (NECO) has taken a significant step in expanding its global presence by accrediting more foreign schools to conduct the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). According to NECO’s acting Director of Public Relations, Azeez Sanni, the accredited schools are located in Niger Republic and Equatorial Guinea.

Sanni revealed that the accreditation team of NECO visited the schools to assess their readiness to write the SSCE and BECE. The team inspected various facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer laboratories, workshops, examination halls, and sports facilities.

The primary objective of the accreditation exercise was to determine the adequacy and suitability of the schools’ facilities for NECO examinations. After a thorough evaluation and comprehensive assessment, the schools were granted full SSCE and full BECE accreditation status.

According to Sanni, “Accreditation team inspected classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer laboratories, workshops, examination halls and sport facilities to determine their adequacy and suitability for NECO Examinations.” He added that the accreditation of the foreign schools is a testament to NECO’s commitment to providing quality education and assessment beyond Nigeria’s shores.

The accreditation of more foreign schools by NECO is a significant milestone in the organization’s efforts to expand its global reach. NECO examinations are now written by candidates in several countries, including Benin Republic, Togo, Cote’d Ivoire, Niger Republic, Equatorial Guinea, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The expansion of NECO’s global presence is expected to provide more opportunities for students in foreign countries to access quality education and assessment. This move is also seen as a way of promoting cultural exchange and understanding between Nigeria and other countries.

NECO’s commitment to providing quality education and assessment is evident in its rigorous accreditation process. The organization’s accreditation team conducts thorough evaluations of schools to ensure that they meet the required standards.

In a statement, Sanni noted that the accreditation of additional foreign schools is a testament to NECO’s commitment to providing quality education and assessment beyond Nigeria’s shores.
