The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) has welcomed a new leader, Alh. Shamsedeen Ogunjimi, who assumed office in Abuja with a clear mandate to revamp the organization’s tarnished image.
In his inaugural address, Ogunjimi urged Treasury Officers to join forces in changing the negative public perception of the OAGF, which has been marred by allegations of fraud against former Accountant-Generals.
Ogunjimi’s appointment comes at a critical juncture, as the OAGF struggles to regain public trust. The new Accountant-General acknowledged the enormity of the task ahead, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility and unity among staff. He stressed that the Treasury House must present a united front, free from internal conflicts and camps.
In a passionate appeal, Ogunjimi called on staff to put the past behind them and work towards a common goal. “We have to move on,” he said. “I am not in any group. We are not going to polarize the house. The task ahead is enormous. We can’t be fighting ourselves. We must achieve.”
The new Accountant-General also drew on his personal experiences, expressing gratitude for the opportunities he had received while serving in the Treasury House. “I would not be who I am today but for the opportunities provided me by this service,” he said.

Ogunjimi’s commitment to transparency and accountability was evident throughout his address. He pledged to dedicate himself fully to strengthening the Treasury’s standing, ensuring that it becomes a model institution in Nigeria.
The new Accountant-General also emphasized the importance of fairness and inclusivity, assuring staff that he would not victimize anyone. “Whether you are a Treasury Officer or you are support staff, the spirit of togetherness and oneness must prevail,” he said.
Ogunjimi’s appeal for unity and collective responsibility was well-received by staff, who applauded his remarks intermittently. As he begins his tenure, the new Accountant-General faces a daunting task: restoring the OAGF’s reputation and ensuring its credibility.
