Niger State Government Warns of Fake Youth Empowerment Portal

The Niger State Government has distanced itself from an online portal circulating on social media that claims to offer registration for a Youth Empowerment and Farmers’ Grant Programme. The government has warned that the portal is a fraudulent scheme set up by criminals attempting to exploit the state’s efforts to promote agriculture and empower the youth.

Abubakar Usman, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), issued a statement clarifying that the government has not launched any such portal. He emphasised that the circulating registration link is a fraudulent attempt to deceive the public, and residents should be cautious when encountering similar schemes. Usman urged the public to disregard the portal and avoid engaging with it in any capacity.

The SSG further informed that all legitimate government programs and initiatives are communicated through official channels, such as the state’s verified social media accounts and official website. Any official empowerment initiative will be announced through these platforms to ensure transparency and avoid confusion among the public.

Usman also advised the public to report any suspicious links or fraudulent information to relevant authorities. He reminded residents not to share personal details on dubious portals that could lead to identity theft or exploitation.
