The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the promotion of 1,419 junior officers across various ranks, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s commitment to career development and workforce motivation. The promotions, which cover both General Duty and Support Staff, were approved during the 10th management meeting chaired by Comptroller General Adewale Adeniyi on November 29.
According to a statement from the National Public Relations Officer, Abdulahi Maiwada, the promotions reflect the results of this year’s rigorous examinations. A total of 346 General Duty and 384 Support Staff officers were promoted from Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) to Inspector of Customs (IC). Additionally, 372 General Duty and 59 Support Staff officers moved from Customs Assistant II (CAII) to Customs Assistant I (CAI), while 188 General Duty and 54 Support Staff officers advanced from Customs Assistant III (CAIII) to Customs Assistant II (CAII).
Comptroller General Adeniyi emphasized the importance of these advancements, noting that career growth is a key component of the NCS’s strategic vision. He praised the promoted officers for their dedication and urged them to continue excelling in their core responsibilities, including revenue generation, suppression of smuggling, and trade facilitation. Adeniyi’s leadership, described as transformative and visionary, has set a high standard for organizational excellence.
The NCS also confirmed that the promotion list for senior officers is currently under review and awaits approval by the Nigeria Customs Service Board. This development highlights the NCS’s broader commitment to staff development across all levels.
