The Nigerian government has given X.com an ultimatum to delete Omoyele Sowore’s anti-Tinubu tweet within 24 hours immediately.
The Department of State Services insisted the viral post was misleading, dangerous, and capable of undermining national security severely.
DSS stressed that the ultimatum was necessary to curb incitement and prevent nationwide chaos sparked by misleading statements.

Omoyele Sowore sharply criticized President Tinubu after he declared in Brazil that corruption ended under his government.
In the tweet, Sowore accused Tinubu of shamelessly lying, describing the president’s statement as criminally deceptive and misleading.
The activist’s post sparked heated debate online, with supporters of both Sowore and Tinubu exchanging verbal attacks aggressively.

The DSS letter which issued the Nigerian ultimatum to X.com, was signed by B. Bamigboye, cited Nigeria’s Criminal Code, Cybercrime Act, and Terrorism Prevention Act.
Authorities argued Sowore’s tweet violated provisions against spreading fake news, hate speech, and online harassment in Nigeria’s laws.
The agency warned that both Sowore and X.com could be criminally liable for amplifying such prohibited inflammatory publication.

DSS threatened sweeping action against X.com if the company refused to delete Sowore’s controversial tweet within 24 hours.
The government emphasized that the demand was unequivocal, stressing immediate compliance was necessary to avoid far-reaching punitive measures.
As at press time, X.com had not publicly responded to Nigeria’s ultimatum demanding the removal of Sowore’s post.
