The Nigerian military has dealt a significant blow to Boko Haram insurgents, bombing their hideouts in Borno State and arresting drugs suppliers in Yobe State.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) carried out a precision air strike on March 16, targeting key insurgent hideouts within the

Mandara Mountains. The NAF’s operation was based on credible intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance

reports, which indicated that notorious terrorist leader Ali Ngulde and his fighters were meeting in the area.

The air strike destroyed key logistics and command structures, igniting large fires and neutralizing scores of

terrorists. In a separate operation, the Nigeria Police Force arrested three suspects with 30 cartons of codeine syrup

and other hard drugs allegedly intended for Boko Haram insurgents and bandits in Yobe State.

The suspects, identified as Alhaji Usman Yahaya, Joseph Matthew, and Solomon Bala, were part of a syndicate that

transports illicit drugs to criminals operating in the Potiskum area. The police also arrested a 30-year-old woman,

Hauwa Sani, for allegedly smuggling ammunition concealed inside a five-litre container of palm oil.

Additionally, two suspects, Yusuf Datani and Usman Labaran, were caught in possession of 10 AK-47 rifles. The

successful operations underscore the Nigerian military’s commitment to combating terrorism and crime in the

country. The NAF’s growing dominance in air power capabilities has proven that insurgents can no longer operate under the cover of darkness.

The police force’s efforts to disrupt criminal networks and ensure the safety and security of all citizens have also

been commendable. The recent arrests and seizures of arms and drugs are a testament to the force’s dedication to combating crime.

The Nigerian government has been working to strengthen its counter-terrorism efforts, and the recent operations are

a significant step in that direction. The military’s ability to gather credible intelligence and carry out precision strikes has been crucial in the fight against Boko Haram.

The international community has also been supporting Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts, providing training and equipment to the military.
