The Nigeria Police Force has officially confirmed the release of Zion Ubani, popularly known as Zfancy, a skit maker and prankster, following his arrest by the NPF-National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja on July 4. The arrest stemmed from prank videos that falsely implicated him in serious offenses, including rape.

In an update provided on Wednesday, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced that Zfancy had been granted bail. He emphasized that Zfancy was cautioned against engaging in pranks that could potentially disrupt public peace and order.

Further facilitating his release, a delegation led by Tokoni Igoin, Special Assistant to the President on ICT Development and Digital Innovation, from the Practitioners of Content Creation, Skit-Making, and Influencers Guild of Nigeria intervened in the matter.

Adejobi clarified that the contentious videos were scripted and not based on actual events. He emphasized the importance of responsible use of social media platforms, urging content creators to promote positive creativity and refrain from spreading misinformation that could provoke public unrest.
The incident underscores ongoing challenges surrounding the intersection of digital content creation, social media influence, and public perception, highlighting the need for vigilance in content dissemination to uphold societal harmony and integrity.
