In an effort to keep residents of Taraba, Adamawa, Benue, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Abia, and Imo states informed of potential weather hazards, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a warning about the likelihood of moderate to heavy rainfall from Wednesday, June 26, to Friday, June 28, 2024.
This forecast encompasses the possibility of flash floods as a result of the anticipated heavy precipitation, along with potent winds that may accompany the showers.

This caution was delineated in NiMet’s forecast bulletin released on Tuesday.
NiMet also projected light to moderate rainfall over the upcoming three days in Kaduna, Niger, Abuja, Nasarawa, Kogi, Kwara, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Ondo, Osun, Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, and Lagos states. Minimal or no rainfall is expected in other regions of the country.
NiMet advised the populace to refrain from traversing through surface runoff waters due to intense undercurrents. Additional potential risks entail slippery road conditions and diminished visibility amidst rainfall, which could disrupt vehicular traffic. Vigorous winds pose a danger to frail structures, trees, and poles.
The agency also recommended disconnecting electrical appliances prior to the onset of rainfall, rather than during.
“No hydrometeorological hazards are projected elsewhere. The public is urged to stay vigilant for any updates,” the agency conveyed.
