The wife of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has shed light on her husband’s apology in court.
According to Uchechi Kanu, the apology was necessary to restore decorum in the court and smooth over ruffled
feathers. In a statement, Mrs. Kanu explained that her husband’s new counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi, needed to address
the court regarding the events that transpired in Justice Binta Nyako’s court.
Mrs. Kanu stated that her husband’s apology was not an admission of guilt but rather a strategic move to balance his
fury with the dignity of the court. She praised Chief Agabi’s intervention, describing it as a necessary step to restore decorum.
The apology was made in court on Saturday, with Chief Agabi delivering the apology on behalf of Kanu. The move was
seen as a surprise, given Kanu’s previous outbursts against Justice Binta Nyako’s court.

However, Mrs. Kanu clarified that the apology was not a sign of weakness but rather a demonstration of her
husband’s commitment to the rule of law. She urged the public to read the full text of the statement before offering comments.
The development is the latest twist in Kanu’s ongoing court case. The IPOB leader is facing charges of terrorism and
has been critical of the Nigerian government’s handling of his case.
Kanu’s apology has been met with mixed reactions, with some praising his willingness to apologize and others
criticizing him for backing down. However, Mrs. Kanu’s explanation provides context to the apology and suggests that
it was a strategic move to advance her husband’s case.
