Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has rallied All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates to secure a sweeping victory in the upcoming local government elections on November 16. During a meeting with the 20 chairmanship candidates, their running mates, 236 councillorship candidates, and 20 local party leaders, Abiodun emphasized the APC’s strong standing, crediting the party’s solid performance and fulfilment of electoral promises as key factors for its anticipated success.

Abiodun highlighted the APC administration’s achievements in democratising governance and infrastructure development, which he said have brought government services closer to the people of Ogun. He expressed confidence in the party’s chances, asserting that the APC will claim both chairmanship and councillorship positions across all 20 local government areas. “We must ensure harmony and unity within the party,” he said, urging candidates to avoid discord and embrace teamwork.

The governor also underscored the importance of grassroots development, reminding candidates that their selection was a deliberate process. He encouraged them to embody the ‘ISEYA’ mantra of his administration, which reflects the APC’s vision for sustainable development across Ogun State. Abiodun stressed that the election’s outcome would be pivotal in fostering more progress at the local level, bringing impactful leadership to all communities.

Abiodun outlined several significant infrastructure projects aimed at further transforming Ogun State, including plans for a deep-sea port, naval base, and dockyard in the Ogun Waterside Local Government Area. Citing achievements of over 700 kilometres of roads, more than 4,000 housing units, and extensive upgrades in healthcare and education facilities, he emphasized that such initiatives strengthen the party’s position and appeal to the people.

State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, also urged candidates to intensify campaign efforts to secure a decisive victory. Sanusi’s message reinforced the governor’s vision of delivering impactful governance at the grassroots level, affirming that the APC-led administration will continue to prioritise Ogun’s development in line with its established agenda.
