The Nigerian Super Falcons will be competing against Brazil in their first group game of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament match on Thursday. The game is scheduled for 6pm local time at the Stade de Bordeaux in Bordeaux, France. This opening fixture is expected to be a mammoth test for the Super Falcons go up against one of the tournament’s strong contenders. There is a lot of anticipation surrounding this match, with fans eagerly awaiting to see how the Super Falcons will fare against the formidable Brazilian team. The Super Falcons have undergone rigorous preparation and are determined to put up a strong fight in their Olympic campaign opener.
The clash will be officiated by Yu-Jeong Kim as the center referee, she will be assisted by Mi-Suk Park as Assistant Referee 1 and Joanna Kate Charaktis as Assistant Referee 2. Jelena Cvetković will serve as the fourth official for the game. Kate Jacewicz will handle the responsibilities of Video Assistant Referee (VAR), with Ivan Bebek serving as the Assistant VAR. It is worth noting that the two nations have previously faced each other twice, with Brazil emerging victorious in both encounters at full time. The Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Paris 2024 will kick off with a blockbuster opening day, as all 12 teams will begin their campaigns.
Host nation France is set to face off against Colombia, while world champions Spain will take on Japan in a rematch of their FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 group-stage meeting, which Japan won 4-0. In another exciting match, Germany will play against Australia. Additionally, USA, Brazil, and Canada will also be in action on this opening day. Japan, one of the other two teams in Group C, will play their match earlier at 4pm.
