Former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for
its economic policies, which he says have significantly boosted state finances.
Omo-Agege, who was the 2023 Delta All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, made this statement during
an interactive leaders’ and stakeholders’ meeting in Warri South-West, Isoko South, and Isoko North Local
Government Areas.
According to Omo-Agege, President Tinubu’s economic policies have provided a significant financial boost for states,
including Delta State, which has received over ₦1 trillion in revenue allocation, a threefold increase from the previous
administration. He noted that the initial difficulties experienced during the policy implementation phase are now
giving way to economic benefits.
Omo-Agege revealed that local governments in Delta State, including Warri South-West, Isoko South, and Isoko North,
now receive more funds than ever before. He urged Deltans to demand accountability from Governor Sheriff
Oborevwori on how these funds are being utilized.
The former DSP emphasized the need for good governance and accountability, calling on Deltans to support the APC
in the 2027 elections to restore good governance in the state. He expressed concern that the benefits of these
substantial funds are not being felt in Delta State.

Omo-Agege criticized the Delta State Government’s handling of increased revenue following the removal of fuel
subsidies and unification of the exchange rate. He alleged that funds meant for development were instead used to
service questionable loans.
Recalling President Tinubu’s campaign visit to Delta State, Omo-Agege said the President was taken aback by the
sheer scale of deprivation and underdevelopment in the region. He noted that the situation was similar to many other
parts of the Niger Delta where crude oil is produced.
Omo-Agege reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that it has already yielded
significant gains, including higher revenue for states and local governments, better economic growth rates, declining
imports, higher exports, and higher income for farmers.
He urged Deltans to query and demand transparency on the use of federal funds, stating: “If the state has received
over ₦1 trillion, where has the money gone?”. Omo-Agege emphasized that this money belongs to all Nigerians, not
just the government.
The APC chieftain called on Deltans to support the APC fully to restore good governance in Delta come 2027. He
expressed optimism that the APC would win the 2027 governorship election in Delta State.
