Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s media aide, Mr Paul Ibe, has said Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has confirmed that the Senate President Godswill Akpabio-led National Assembly is a rubber stamp.
Ibe said Oshiomhole has revealed that senators do not get advance copies of the draft bills under consideration.
Oshiomhole, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had faulted the process of passing bills by the Senate.
The lawmaker lamented the fact that bills are approved in the Senate without proper debate or scrutiny.
He said, “We are not meant to rubber-stamp, and the way you are reading this, it’ll take a genius to be able to make a point. We are making laws, sir. I want it to be on record that I am troubled by the way in which we are rushing without details.”
Reacting, Ibe posted on his X handle, “Senator Adams Oshiomhole unwittingly confirms that the Akpabio-led Senate is indeed a rubber-stamp Senate.
“The alert by the Edo North Senator also further reveals that the Senators do not get advance copies of the draft bills under consideration.”
