Former Edo State Governor and current senator, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, caused disruption at the MMA 1 Zulu terminal after arriving late and missing a 6:30 am Air Peace flight to Abuja.
The Senator reportedly shut the MMA 1 Zulu terminal gate after missing a 6:30 AM Air Peace aircraft from Lagos to Abuja as he arrived late at 6:20 a.m., after the flight had already departed on time.
Witnesses and officials reported that he had previously come just minutes before departure. In retaliation for missing the flight, he shut the terminal gate, leaving passengers stranded on other booked flights.
The airline was obliged to operate from a different terminal as a result of the event. The people responded fiercely, condemning Oshiomhole’s actions as a misuse of power and an illustration of the entitlement common among Nigerian leaders.
Reacting to what they described as unruly behaviour, Air Peace strongly condemned his conduct, although they refused to reveal his identity.
According to a press statement released by the Airline’s management, they said, “The prominent individual in question arrived at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall) at approximately 06:10 AM for Flight P47120 scheduled to depart Lagos for Abuja at 06:30 AM. In line with our standard on-time departure policy, the boarding process had closed, and the flight departed as scheduled.”
When told of the missed flight, the politician became violent, beating our personnel and barricading the terminal entrance. He went so far as to close the entry gate and man the access point, essentially preventing other travellers from entering the terminal.
This inappropriate behaviour caused severe disruption to ongoing operations, affecting a large number of passengers scheduled for various flights.
To avoid further delay, Air Peace quickly implemented an operational contingency plan to board affected passengers at an alternate terminal, assuring the continuation of their travel plans.
The Airline management expressed worry and concern that such a high-profile figure displayed conduct so unbecoming and disruptive to fellow passengers and its personnel.
They added that Air Peace maintains a zero-tolerance stance on violence or any form of aggression against its staff and passengers.
The Airline urged guests to remain civil and cooperative at all times, noting that Aviation operations are bound by strict timelines and safety protocols, and the Airline remained ever committed to upholding these standards while delivering safe and timely services to the Nigerian public.
“Air Peace continues to stand for discipline, integrity, and respect for due process. No individual, no matter how influential, is above these values,” it concluded.
