The Oyo State Government is set to onboard 5,600 newly recruited teachers into its database, with deployments to public basic schools planned thereafter. The announcement was made by the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), Nureni Adeniran, in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, on Tuesday in Ibadan.
Adeniran stated that a verification exercise for the successful candidates would take place from Thursday December 5 to Monday December 16, 2024, at the board’s headquarters in Agodi, Ibadan. The process, scheduled to last eight working days, will be conducted with the participation of relevant stakeholders. He emphasized that this initiative is part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of teachers and the quality of education in the state.
Candidates are advised to bring necessary documents for the verification process, which will start daily at 9 a.m. Adeniran noted that these 5,600 teachers are part of the first batch of successful applicants approved by the governor, marking a significant step in addressing the educational needs of the state.
This recruitment move follows the recent release of the list of successful candidates by OYOSUBEB, signalling a substantial boost to Oyo State’s basic education workforce. Governor Makinde’s administration continues to prioritize the improvement of education through these strategic steps to enhance teaching quality across the state.
