The Nigerian Police have granted bail to Pastor Paul Adefarasin following interrogation over a controversial viral video where the pastor was seen pointing a stun gun at an individual.
The footage, which surfaced online earlier this month, showed the pastor holding an object that resembled a firearm.
In the video, Pastor Adefarasin appeared to interact with a motorist while gripping a dark, gun-like device.
This clip led to public speculation and concern, prompting the clergyman to present himself to the Lagos State Police.

Officials confirmed Pastor Adefarasin was cooperative during questioning and gave a cautionary statement to the police investigators.
Following their investigation, authorities identified the object seen in the video as a stun gun, not a firearm.
According to the police, the recovered stun gun is classified as a prohibited anti-riot device under Nigerian law.
They clarified it was non-lethal and stressed that Pastor Adefarasin did not threaten anyone with the device.

Addressing the matter, Pastor Adefarasin used his X (formerly Twitter) account to deny the weapon allegations completely.
He reaffirmed during a Sunday service that he never owned or carried a pistol or firearm of any kind.
Pastor Adefarasin stun gun incident, he said, was misrepresented to damage his reputation and mislead the public intentionally.
He blamed “clickbaiters” for spreading false claims, suggesting their goal was financial gain through viral misinformation.

Reflecting on the ordeal, the pastor admitted feeling “hurt” and “shocked” when he saw the video trending online.
Despite the controversy, he expressed faith in God’s ability to turn harmful intentions into something ultimately good.
The Pastor Adefarasin stun gun case highlights the dangers of viral misinformation and its real-life consequences for individuals.
