Paul Adefarasin, Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, has spoken out about a viral video that falsely claimed he brandished a pistol. He described the episode as cruel and wicked, motivated by “clickbaiters just looking for money”.
During his sermon on Sunday, which was live-streamed on the church’s YouTube account, Adefarasin expressed his deep shock at the charge and subsequent reaction.
“Several persons called me. I was shocked. I was hurt. I’m human,” he said. “What we have had to witness were clickbaiters just looking for money. I probably wasn’t even their target; their target was to make more money.”
He absolutely denied owning or deploying a firearm, saying, “I was falsely accused of pointing a firearm at an aggressive content creator who approached me personally.” I do not hold a pistol licence. I don’t carry a handgun. And I didn’t point a pistol at anyone.”
Adefarasin stated that the alleged assault took place on a Saturday during his Sabbath. “It happened on Saturday, when I observed the Sabbath. He stated, “I believe in the notion of Sabbath.
He further stated that his ministry would not lend weight to misinformation and online attacks. “It’s our policy not to dignify hate speech and false accusations. We believe God is bigger than that.”
Quoting scripture, he added: “We believe in what He said in Romans 12:19 — ‘Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord’.”
Reflecting on the emotional toll, Adefarasin stated, “God is moved by the feelings of our infirmities, and He is able to first give us succour. And what the enemy intends for evil, He uses for good.”
He concluded, “On that note, I will lay that matter to rest.”
