PDP Leader Acknowledges Tinubu’s Efforts to Address Economic Challenges

Dr. Abdul-Jhalil Tafawa-Balewa, a former presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on Nigerians to exercise patience and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tafawa-Balewa, a well-known figure in Nigerian politics and a consultant nuclear chemist specializing in food preservation believes that the current president inherited a country in a severe financial crisis. He emphasizes that it will take significant effort and time to address the challenges facing the nation.

In a recent interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos, Tafawa-Balewa underscored the difficulty of revitalizing a country that is on the brink of economic collapse. He pointed out that Tinubu has taken on the daunting task of leading Nigeria out of this financial turmoil.

According to Tafawa-Balewa, rebuilding and restructuring a nation that is in such a precarious state is no small feat. The president must navigate numerous complex issues, from economic instability to widespread infrastructural deficits.

Tafawa-Balewa suggested that one way for Tinubu to manage the country’s finances more effectively is to reduce the number of ministries. Currently, Nigeria has 48 ministries, which Tafawa-Balewa argues is excessive. By trimming down the number of ministries, the government could lower administrative costs and better allocate resources towards crucial areas of national development.

This reduction in the number of ministries could also streamline governance and make the administration more efficient.
Furthermore, Tafawa-Balewa stressed the importance of modernizing the government. He recommended that President Tinubu appoint experienced technocrats with up-to-date expertise to oversee the ministries.

These experts would bring specialized knowledge and skills to the table, which could improve decision-making and overall governance. Tafawa-Balewa believes that focusing on reducing the number of ministers and ensuring that the remaining ones are highly qualified will lead to more effective management of the nation’s resources.

In addition to economic and administrative reforms, Tafawa-Balewa highlighted the need for significant improvements in national security. He pointed out that Nigeria faces serious security challenges, including kidnappings, insurgency, and other forms of violence. To address these issues, Tafawa-Balewa urged President Tinubu to enhance security measures and work towards a more secure environment for all Nigerians.

Overall, Tafawa-Balewa’s message is one of cautious optimism. He acknowledges the immense difficulties that President Tinubu faces but believes that with time and focused efforts, positive changes can be made. By cutting down on unnecessary administrative layers, appointing skilled experts, and strengthening security, Tafawa-Balewa is hopeful that Nigeria can move towards a more stable and prosperous future.
